Neck pain is a common injury that we treat. It is associated with strain of the small, facet joints on the side of the neck. Lifestyle factors can contribute to neck pain.

These include:

• Poor quality and quantity of sleep

• More muscle tension in your neck due to poor posture when working with poor posture at a desk or sustained, sedentary positions when watching TV

• Low levels of physical activity

• Stressful events in your life.

Symptoms to be aware of:

• Constant head, neck or arm pain that affects your sleep

• Weakness or loss of feeling in your arms and legs

• Medical history of inflammatory arthritis, immunosuppression, tuberculosis (TB), drug abuse, cancer, aids or other infections

• If you feel unwell, unexplained weight loss and fevers

• History of neck surgery or trauma to the neck, sustained from a car accident or fall

It is highly recommended to consult a professional to determine the source of the pain. Remember, it is not just important to treat the symptoms but to target the source of the pain and prevent it from coming back. We are here to help!
